Mill Cottage Meats
Alongside our livestock assistance, we also work hard to produce our own lamb, beef, mutton and soon, pork.
We aim to produce all our meat to the highest welfare standards.
All stock can be purchased direct from us fresh on delivery from the butchers or from our frozen stock. Lambs can also be purchased as wholes or half boxes, butchered to your liking. We will always take pre orders on items when we know we are due a delivery.

MAY 2023 UPDATE
An update that has been a very long time coming! We currently have mutton in stock, diced and minced. We are also working in partnership with some friends to bring you more high quality pork! As many of you know, being tenant farmers means we have several locations that our animals graze, bringing our "local" area from Bures to Maldon. Having lost our pig housing, but still wanting to produce great pork, we have teamed up with our friends at Pennetts Farm in Notley to bring you more high quality, slow reared pork. The first pork batch is due in August, with Bacon and Gammons to follow around October.
Where do we graze?
Whilst Zoe is based in Bures, Gary is centred around Witham and Maldon. Therefore our grazing is quite stretched out but we try and keep as local to home as possible.
The ewes amd lambs are currently grazing in Bures.
The store cattle graze over in Waltham with the suckler herd on watermeadows in Clare.
The pigs are living in Notley.
How can we buy from you?
We offer on site collection from CO8 5AE or free delivery within 3 Miles of Bures.
Call or message Zoe on 07983 779990 or visit the Mill Cottage Meats Facebook page to see our up to date stock list.
You can call or text Zoe to place an order, or use the messenger function on the Facebook page. Payment can be cash on collection/delivery or BACS.

Deposits are taken for any order of whole or half lambs. These can be butchered to your liking, for example whole or half legs and shoulders, bones in or out, rack of lamb or cutlets.

Whilst we would love to keep a constant supply of meat for our customers, we are only 2 people running the show as well as both holding down full time jobs! We don't like to buy animals in to keep a supply, we like to produce them ourselves! Therefore there can be periods of time when we are out of stock of certain cuts or meats. Please bare with us, it most certainly is worth the wait!
We are always happy to take pre-orders on any items so you can guarantee the cut you want, but please remember we cannot say what weight or how many of each cut there will be until we get the animal back.
